No More Cold Winters at East Whitby School!!!

Following the receipt of major funding from North Yorkshire County Council for the new heating system at our school the Heating Design Engineers from Jacobs have appointed a well experienced firm of Heating Engineers called HCS along with their sub-contractors Clarkes to install the new heating system at our school .
The local firm Tiger Scaffolding have erected the scaffolds required around the school buildings and following the engineers work over the Easter holidays the project is progressing well.
In order not to cause too much disruption in school the heating pipe work is being fixed to the roofs and we can begin to see this already around the buildings.
This design and type of construction system has been tried and tested at on many other projects including some schools at Scarborough and has proved to be very efficient.
The pipes will be well insulated and protected against the weather and inquisitive seagulls !!
With the help of Sainsburys some car parking spaces have been made available at their store nearby for use by the school, although the down-side does mean rather more exercise for staff than they may have wished for along with parents, visitors and governors to school , but on the other hand it does make it very handy for some shopping.
Access will be provided for anyone with mobility problems if they wish to phone school the contractors will make arrangements to ensure that access is available at any reasonable time.
Health and Safety is an extremely important part of any building project and the safety of all who visit and use our school is of paramount importance. The delivery of materials and flow of construction traffic combined with the handling and lifting of long lengths of heavy pipework  is the reason why the drive needs to be kept clear and parking will not normally be allowed at school during this work. Therefore your patience is requested over this period.
The project will be completed by September and we are all looking forward to warm, cosy classrooms for Autumn.
Monthly meetings with the contractors means that we can keep up to date with progress and we will refresh the news on the website as it takes shape.
