For our Christmas project we read some of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and watched the film which is based on the book. We then set about rewriting it in the modern day. As a class we came up with the main character, Mrs Crooge, who is a horrible Headmistress at a school where anything fun (including Christmas!) is banned. The class then each wrote their own story based on this idea. When all the (very) hard work was done we turned each story into a book then invited parents in to enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits around the Christmas tree and to hear extracts from different children’s stories, before settling down with their own child to read theirs.
